Memorandum : Usher, Lord Primate (of Ireland), was at Llantrithed for severall moneths, and divertised himselfe much to talke with the poore people to understand Welsh, for that 'it had,' he sayd, 'a great affinity with the Irish.' He sayd the Old Testament was translated by the Universities, but the New Testament was translated by the bishops ; but the Old is much better donne.
